RSM and BAPAM Present: Managing Social Media

Social media is often a necessary part of life for musicians, being key for promotion, networking and connection. However, there can be negative impacts on mental health associated with using social media.

In this session, we will look at how social media can specifically impact the mental health of musicians and discuss techniques and strategies to stay mentally well whilst using it.

Kate is an Integrative Psychotherapist (MBACP, NCPS Accredited) offering confidential therapy for people working across the creative industries and high-pressure professional environments, including performers, actors, musicians, freelancers, and those working in film, television, fashion, media, leadership, and public-facing roles.

Before retraining as a psychotherapist, she spent over two decades working within creative and corporate environments and so understands first-hand the unique pressures that can come with visibility, performance, inconsistent income, perfectionism, comparison, long hours, identity tied to achievement, and balancing personal wellbeing alongside demanding careers.
