RSM x Tonic Music: Group Therapy for music professionals

  • Online (via Zoom) (map)

It’s no secret that a career in music can be tough. The mental health challenges faced by music professionals are many and varied. That’s why we’ve teamed up with Tonic Music, whose mission is to to establish good mental health within music communities.

Following the initial group from 2025, The Royal Society of Musicians and Tonic Music are providing a further 12 FREE Group Therapy sessions for music professionals, facilitated online by two psychotherapists with significant experience working in music - Dr Adam Ficek and Jade Hughes.

This group therapy will provide music professionals with a unique experience to share their experiences and feelings with others in a safe and supportive environment. This process will also help individuals gain greater insight into themselves and to become aware of how their feelings and behaviours may be impacting their professional and personal relationships.

Acting as a microcosm of the outside world, the group will encourage participants to reflect on these feelings and patterns of behaviour, so they may gain understanding and have the opportunity to create positive changes. By participating in group therapy individuals can benefit from developing emotional connections with their fellow group members as well as therapeutic support from the facilitators.
— Dr Adam Ficek / Jade Hughes

Taking place across 12 weeks, with each session running for 90 minutes, we’re looking for music professionals to take part, be you performer, crew, teacher, administrator or anything in between.

Initial registration and an online consultation appointment is required before you can participate in this Group Therapy. After completing the registration form, you will be invited to an online consultation appointment via email. Please check your junk/spam folders for this email.
